Beginning your search

There are several areas in the library that contain information relevant to career planning.The LC  numbers  HF 5381 - HF 5382 contain general books on careers and vocational guidance. Use the online catalog  to access a link to these titles. Also, look up books by subject. For example,  look under the heading Medicine-Vocational Guidance for books on careers in the health industry. Note in this example, that some titles are in the R690s with other medical books .Other subject terms that you might search are 'occupations', 'job descriptions', and 'professions'. All titles may be be browsed and checked-out and will be on the second floor of the library.

Information on resumes can be found in the areas of HF5383 and interviewing can be found in HF5549.

Professional journals and newspapers contain classified ads. Consult the Encyclopedia of Associations  for a list of professional associations and their publications.
