Finding your way to the Databases

  1. First go to library.jccc.edu
  2. The third tab across is marked "Databases."
  3. Click on this and choose "subjects"
  4. Choose "History"

This is a really helpful database when you need help choosing a topic

Under the main title, there are two helpful words called "Browse Topics".

Clicking on this link, brings up everything (quite literally!) from A-Z on American History, American Politics and Famous People.

Once you have chosen a topic, click on the link and a wealth of information will appear

On the right hand side of the screen, it describes what can be found on this page. For the purpose of the paper, the three most important sections to look through are:

Primary Sources

Academic Journals

Reference

American History 1493-1945

American History West

American West: Introduction to navigating the database

The link at the bottom of the box shows a step by step guide to navigating the above database.

 Both American West and American History 1493-1945 work in a similar way, so the knowledge gained in one database can be used to navigate the other.
