Oxford Art Online

How to use: 

  • This database can be used in finding information on pre-20th century furniture.

From the library homepage at library.jccc.edu, click on the databases tab, choose 'subjects' and then 'art'

Scroll down and choose Oxford Art Online

Click on 'Subject Entries' and enter the search term into the search box. Press Enter

Once results are returned, choose the most relevant  subject entry to find more information 

 

 

Artstor

How to use: 

From the library homepage at library.jccc.edu, click on the databases tab, choose 'subjects' and then 'art'

Scroll down and choose Artstor

In the search box on the left hand side of the screen type in the information you need. NOTE: if you are searching for something which could have multiple meanings such as 'Adironack' or 'Beach' type in 'Adironack Chair' or 'Beach Furniture' to narrow the results. Press Enter

Once the results are returned, under the classification tab on the left hand side of the screen, choose 'Decorative Arts, Utiliarian Objects and Interior Design' to narrow the results even more.

Once you have found an image, double clicking on the image will enlarge it.

If you need information about the piece, click on the text underneath the image.
