William Allen White Award Winners

The William Allen White Award (WAW) is a set of two annual awards for books selected by committee and voted on by Kansas schoolchildren. The award is named for William Allen White, long-time editor and publisher at the Emporia Gazette.

William Allen White Award Categories

When the Award was originally established in 1952, there was a single winner voted on by Kansas schoolchildren. Since 2001, the William Allen White Awards have included two categories divided by grade: 3rd-5th Grade and 6th-8th Grade. This page lists all winners in the 3rd-5th Grade category from 2001-Present. Books owned by the Billington Library link to the book in our catalog and include the call number location of the book.
